A Special Day and an Unexpected Invitation

Today holds a special place in my heart. It's the day I finally decided to start my blog—a step I had been contemplating for a while. After struggling a bit on the name. I finally bought domain and website hosting. Coincidentally, I also attended the opening ceremony of Suma Beauty Academy, an extension of a local beauty parlour I’ve known for years. The owner, Suma, is a humble and warm-hearted person I’ve known since our first meeting a decade ago. Despite her steady growth, she remains the same genuine person.

The opening ceremony was scheduled for 10:30 am, but I reached around 11:30 am—typical Indian timing! As I arrived, the ground floor was buzzing with activity; people guided guests on parking, music played, and a DJ set the atmosphere. I headed straight to the Academy, where the pooja was in progress. The Academy was neatly divided into classrooms, a practice room, a cafeteria, a main hall, and a reception—simple yet modern, with all the amenities set up for classes to start soon.

By 12:00 pm, there was a noticeable increase in excitement. Everyone was bustling about, and I soon realized it was because a small-screen celebrity was about to arrive. Staff members were busy tying ribbons, arranging flowers, and preparing the cake. Despite the general buzz, I couldn't help but feel a bit detached since I wasn’t familiar with the celebrity’s work.

The guest arrived, cut the ribbon, toured the Academy, and participated in the usual photo sessions. Soon, more YouTube stars and local artists joined in, adding to the crowd's excitement. The guest even took a moment to check out the salon attached to the Academy before cutting the cake and giving a brief speech.

While everyone was caught up in the energy of meeting these influencers and artists, I found myself more absorbed in observing the behind-the-scenes efforts. The relentless work of the staff attending to the guests, the calculated eye contact between celebrities and their team, and the constant checking of camera angles all seemed a bit chaotic to me. Still, I stayed calm, watching as content was planned, videos were made, and every moment was documented.

After the celebrity left, the crowd slowly shifted its focus to the food. There were snacks like samosas, kachoris, and cake, and the confusion about where to serve them was evident. I happened to be outside, noticed the disarray, and mentioned it to the host. She asked me to look into it, so I took charge, deciding to arrange the food downstairs, moving everything from the third floor to the first. Once sorted, everyone enjoyed the food, took more pictures, and the event gradually wrapped up.

I’m not usually one for makeup, influencers, or celebrity events, but I attended today because of my long-standing connection with Suma. Though we didn’t always talk much, she was consistent in reaching out, and during times when I was unwell, she was supportive in ways I’ll never forget. I’m grateful to have been part of her big day, and it’s a reminder that some bonds remain special, even if we don’t interact regularly.
